Sarah S.

Auric Blends Employee since February 2007

Sarah grew up in Sonoma County (where Auric Blends is located) and has known the owner of AB all her life.

Sarah is an artist and, although it's not her preferred medium, uses the whiteboard and dry erase markers in our sales office to draw flowers and other cool designs!

What do you do at Auric Blends? I work in the Sales Department as a sales and customer service associate.
Favorite Book? Wise Child, a series by Monica Furlong.
Are you reading a book right now? I just finished Rubies in the Orchard by Lynda Resnick. I'm usually a fiction person, but I liked this book because she has some very good insights into the business world.
Favorite artist(s)? Well, Monet inspired me to become an artist, but my current favorite is Georgia O'Keefe. I like her abstractions, the color palette she used and the freedom she embodied in her attitude toward art and the art world.
Favorite musician(s)? It might sound cliche, but I love Bob Marley. I know all the words to all of his songs!
Favorite movie(s)? The Never-Ending Story, Tenacious D and the Pick of Destiny and Legend.
Favorite quote? "Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming WOO HOO, what a ride!"
What video games do you play? Nintendo DS. I like Alice in Wonderland and Zelda, Spirit Tracks.
What is your favorite thing to drink in the morning? Non-caffeinated sugary drinks like hot chocolate. Coffee doesn't do much for me.
Do you have any comfort foods? This is really weird, but here it is: It's called Eggs in the Cellar. You take hard boiled eggs, separate the yolk and the white and make a bechamel sauce with the whites. Take the bechamel, egg white mix and put it on a piece of toast. Then put the yolk through a sieve and sprinkle it over the top. Freakin' amazing!
Do you have any pets? If so, what is your favorite thing about your pet? Yes, I have Chachi (in the picture with me) and he is a Rat-Cha, a Rat Terrier, Chihuahua mix. I love everything about him! He's small, but has all the qualities of a big dog-he's protective and follows me around everywhere. He's handsome and stocky-I love his polka dots! I love how much he loves me.
If you could be any fictional character, who would it be? The female version of Batman.
During your childhood what was your favorite cartoon character? Jem from Jem and the Holograms.
What color umbrella do you use? Red, with a duck handle.
Your favorite outfit or designer? How much space do you have?! I really like vintage clothing outfits. I love the old fashion houses like Christian Dior, Pierre Cardin, Coco Chanel. A few of my current fav's are Diane Von Furstenberg, Marc Jacobs and John Galliano who designs for Christian Dior. I also like Free People. Hey, if you love vintage clothing too, you've got to check out Aubergine in Sebastopol, CA.
What is your favorite language other than your native language? I'd like to learn Latin, not for speaking but because it's the root of so many modern languages that it would be interesting to know. I'd like to learn Spanish too because there are so many people that I work with, and also in my community, that speak it.
What cultures do you find beautiful? Italian, Greek and the ancient cultures along the Aegean Sea. I'd love to visit Greece. I feel a personal connection to Greece, although I'm not of Mediterranean descent!
Are you a winter or summer person? Summer baby! I love water.
Favorite activity or hobby? Wake boarding, snow boarding, surfing and walking my dog.
If you were given a chance to travel to the past, where would you go and why? The 1920's. The time that we currently live in is great because it's an industrial civilization and we have so many conveniences, but at the same time we have so many worries. I'd like to live in a post-industrial society that was more positive and where people didn't have so many fears and worries.
Name one place that you would like to travel to now and why? Greece (see above!). It looks beautiful, I love the food, architecture and the beaches.
Favorite thing about working at Auric Blends? Everyone here is so personable. We all know each other well, it's a flexible and non-judgmental work environment. Auric is a very understanding and humanitarian place to work. The people here know that we all have life outside of work and so there is a lot of flexibility and kindness. It's similar to how I grew up, and I really appreciate that. The basic motto here is to be kind, be considerate and do your best. I can get behind that!
